Biryani …Biryani …Biryani ….Yes most famous food of this place.

September 3rd 2004, evening 8:30, my first taste of Hyderabadi biryani was in The Ohris Banjara. They served the most delicious biryaniI ever tasted. Then throughout my stay for 35 days till I could find a house for rent I was going on eating byrani every day in various places.

I have tasted biryani in most of the places in India and mostly in southern region. But this one Hyderabadi is the best I ever had. The tender pieces of lamb or chicken cooked completely in the aroma of spices and saffron in basmathi rice makes you mouth watering. Most of the places in hyderabad serve biryani . Especially the demand is more for Mutton(lamb) Byrani.

The oldest places in hyderabad is where you get very good biryani , in and around Charminar. Hotel Paradise, Bawarchi, Cafe Bahar, Hyderabadi Biryani House are very good. The combination of the rice with Mirichi Ka Salan and raw onions is the killer taste. My favorite is Hotel Paradise. I recommend any new visitors who come to hyderabad to visit this place. My unforgettable moment is when we group of 4 people including me went out to paradise and ordered a family biryani . My god the food came in such a huge plate and we 4 couldn’t finish it off. It’s so tasty and well cooked. A gentle push with your fork or knife into the lamb, the meat gets cut into two. It’s so tender.

So if you are in hyderabad enjoy the bryani. If you are visiting hyderabad never miss out this.
